Handside Osteopathy
At Handside Osteopathy, I believe in treating the whole person—not just the symptoms. Located in the heart of Welwyn Garden City, my clinic offers a calm and supportive environment where patients of all ages can receive personalised, hands-on care.
As an experienced osteopath and Naturopath Barbara Sherringham, I take the time to understand your lifestyle, health history, and individual needs. My goal is to help you feel better, move better, and live better through gentle, effective osteopathic care.
What is Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on the relationship between the body’s structure and function. It considers the whole person, including lifestyle, posture, and wellbeing, to identify and treat the root cause of discomfort. Osteopaths don’t just treat muscles and joints; they may also incorporate advice on exercise, diet, hydrotherapy, and relaxation as part of a tailored treatment plan.
What are the benefits?
Osteopathic treatment uses a variety of techniques to improve mobility in restricted joints and relieve tension in tight muscles. This helps enhance circulation, support tissue healing, and restore balance throughout the body, promoting long-term health and vitality.

What medical conditions can be treated?
Osteopaths treat tendons, ligaments and the joint capsules which surround the joints. Treatment works on the muscles, fascia, bursa and nerves, spinal disc, lymph and the blood supply via arteries and veins.
Medical conditions treated include:
- General aches and pains
- Joint pains including hip, knees, shoulders and elbows
- Arthritic pain
- General, acute and chronic backache.
- Uncomplicated mechanical neck pain
- Headache arising from neck (cervicogenic )/ migraine prevention
- Cramp
- Digestive problems
- Sciatic
- Inability to relax
- Minor sport injuries and tensions
